Caravan Holidays Essentials

A lot of us think of a caravan holiday as more carefree way to enjoy the great outdoors. In a caravan we do not have to do without the luxuries our house offers us: we have a cosy bed, a hob, a fridge and comfortable chairs. And when we feel the need to spend more time outside we can just put up an awning and be inside while outside. You are also a lot less restricted when it comes to what you can pack as a tent or a tarp are much more lightweight options.

However, there are still of plenty things you should pack and keep in mind before setting off on your venture. First of all you need to ask yourself where it is you’re going and who you are going with. How long is the journey and your stay? Will the caravan campsite have facilities? Are you travelling with children and/or dogs? What will the weather be like? Should you pack a rain coat or suncream? Once you have answered these basic questions it is time to get preparing!

Pack some food that you can eat while travelling to your destination. That way you will save time and money as you will not have to stop at as many service stations. Once you arrive at your campsite you will be busy setting up your caravan and awning to make yourself feel right at home. Often you will not feel like going for a- food shop afterwards. Sometimes the nearest shop won’t even be open. To make sure that you don’t have to go hungry, pack some essential food to cover dinner and breakfast the next morning e.g. milk, tea, coffee, butter, bread, cereal, salt, pepper, eggs, bacon…

Then you will want to take cutlery, plates, bowls, mugs and a kitchen knife so you can serve your food. A chopping board is also incredibly handy or maybe even two: one that you cut onions on and that stays absolutely free from onions and garlic. You don’t want the chopped apple to have a lingering oniony aftertaste. If you are travelling with your pets then take plenty of food for them with you so that their diet doesn’t have to change. If your kids are coming along make sure that you bring entertainment with you such as a football or board games.
